The three stooges plot their next caper. If all goes well their citizens will end up as prosperous as Cubans! And maybe even as free.
There is something unseemly about elected leaders getting giddy when talking with an outright dictator. It would be simply comical if there were not real people living in Bolivia, Venezuela, [...]

This is important:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The incoming prime minister won the backing Thursday of Iraq’s top Shiite cleric for his plan to disband militias, which the U.S. believes is the key to calming sectarian strife and halting the country’s slide toward civil war.
The long term success of the entire Iraq undertaking depends on [...]

The political grandstanding over doing something about gasoline prices is getting pretty silly. Instapundit is right when he says that people attacking oil companies over gasoline prices should be sent a copy of this book.
In all businesses that are run according to the profit motive, businesses charge what the market will bear. You charge what [...]

If you have read NoSpeedBumps.com much, you know that I am in favor of tough policies to crack down on illegal immigration. Bin Laden says this in a new tape:
“I have sworn to only live free. Even if I find bitter the taste of death, I don’t want to die humiliated or deceived.”
Strange that he should use the word “free”. What is this freedom that he has in mind for the world to live under? Does he [...]

This is a really bad idea from Jonah Goldberg at NRO. He proposes holding a referendum in Iraq on whether US troops should stay or leave. There is much to lose in this proposal, and little to gain. Even if 60% of Iraqis voted for us to stay, the other 40% are not likely to [...]

Looks like a fence may be happening, one way or another.
The power of private citizens can be an amazing thing in a free country.

After ignoring immigration laws for a couple of decades now, the federal government today began cracking down on some employers of illegal workers.
Secretary Michael Chertoff has been talking tough and seems serious about this. Ironically, for all the debate about which immigration reforms are appropriate - another route is to simply start enforcing existing [...]

This means that 1 out of every 36 households in America is worth at least $1 million. Walk down your street and imagine that every 36th house is a millionaire household. And this excludes the value of a primary residence when deriving household net worth.
Of course a million dollars isn’t what it used to be. [...]
