ABC Hatchet Job on Sarah Palin

20/20 tonight has the story of Sarah Palin followed by the ABC interview with her by Charles Gibson. So I sat down to watch it looking forward to the story of her life in Alaska and the build up to where things are today. I was looking for some context, as an extended piece of TV journalism should provide. But ABC blew through her early life and then quickly jumped into a list of implied or outright criticisms of her since the RNC convention. Would Obama ever get this kind of treatment?!

Oh, some argue, but she is so inexperienced - and she sometimes stretches the truth - so they had to go after her. Really? Fact Check has a ton of distortions of the truth by Obama (for example see here, here, here). Why is Sarah Palin the one getting the intense scrutiny? Hey, politicians exaggerate their records. Dah, this has surely been happening since the Greeks started holding elections. When is the ABC prime time piece declaring all of Obama’s exaggerations?

Obama was a Senator for 150 days before he started running for president. He does not have near enough experience to be president. Being good at giving speeches and being a smooth talker does not qualify you for being president of the most powerful country in the world. Where are the TV pieces from ABC questioning Obama’s experience? (Side question: If Obama was white, would he be the Democrat’s pick to be president? Could he have beaten Hillary as a white guy with little experience? My bet: no way.)

Obama has had some close personal contact with some very unsavory characters - such as Tony Rezko and William Ayers. Where are the hard-hitting ABC pieces on that? This has really been lacking in press coverage.

Obama says that he is a big supporter of government funding of campaigns - until he figured out that he could raise bigger bucks privately. So then he became a hypocrite regarding public financing of campaigns. (Public financing is only for those other suckers, I guess.) Where is the hard-hitting ABC piece on this hypocrisy?

Obama claims to be a post-racial candidate, but he grew up constantly thinking of race and trying to prove that he could be an authentic black. He moved to Chicago to organize blacks and in a very race-conscious way. And his wife appears even more race driven than him. All black liberal leaders will tell you flat out that America is a racist society. This is a core liberal belief - and emphatically so among black liberal activists. Obama and is wife have avoided saying this outright, but you would think that they believe the same things that other black liberal activists believe. (This explains how Michelle Obama can say things like, “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country”. You see, when you live in a society racist at its core, how could you ever be proud of your county? Perhaps you only can be proud if a majority votes for the black guy for president who is promising change.)

Obama’s “God Damn America minister” for years, where Obama took his kids to church, is anti-American and nutty. Where are the hardnosed ABC investigations of why Obama had not quit years ago? Where is the hard-nosed ABC interview with Obama on this? How could the potential next president of the US sit in that church year after year.

So I turned off the ABC piece on Sarah Palin before the interview part even began. I wasn’t going to take part in this, it just ticked me off. And I am actually pretty tolerant of liberal media bias.

I did happen to watch some of Charles Gibson’s interview of Palin last night on the internet. I thought she did okay. Of course, in truth, she is too inexperienced for the VP job - just like Obama is too inexperienced for the job of president. Just don’t tell the press or ABC.
