How to Win a Nobel Peace Prize … While Quietly Being George Bush
First, how to win a Nobel Peace Prize in five easy steps:
1) Don’t be George W. Bush.
2) Be a top American liberal (think Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, …).
3) Internationally, use apologetic rhetoric regarding all things American.
4) Use lofty-sounding internationalist rhetoric and deny American exceptionalism.
5) Be black.
When all five of these steps are combined, the combination is so powerful that, well, you don’t even have to, you know, accomplish anything. The five former lefty Norwegian politicians that form the committee to pick the peace prize winner will be so dazzled that they will just immediately hand you the prize.
Of course, in President Obama’s case, you still have to be watching out for American interests where the rubber really meets the road. Thus, you must quietly do these things:
1) Continue with George Bush’s plans on Iraq of a slow disengagement.
2) Expand the war in Afghanistan.
3) Expand bombing the Taliban and Al Qaeda leadership wherever they are even though civilians are killed.
So, in other words, for these last three items your job is to: be George Bush. Just keep the rhetoric lofty and liberal and no one will notice.

Why should we care about how five Norwegian voted for an award? There is no reason for all this uproar if people understand the context. Would conservatives care who won Norway Idol?
As the press already pointed out, this prize might become a hot potato for President Obama. Lofty goals aside, the real politics might render him unable to delivery on many of his stated goals. It is not exactly correct to say the left have not noticed this, but he is their guy. What exactly can they do besides to back him? Don’t expect any real infighting within the liberal ranks until after the 2010 election.

“It is not exactly correct to say the left have not noticed this, but he is their guy.”
True, but the hypocrisy on the left is pretty hard to take. The end-game in Afghanistan seems a lot less clear than Iraq. And Bush was portrayed a monster for continuing the Iraq war.
