Happy Holidays and Blogging Update
Hope you and your families are having a nice Christmas and holiday break! Blogging will be light for the next week as I will be traveling to Pennsylvania to visit with family. I am taking a wireless laptop, so if I can find a wireless connection I may put up some posts.
I also got a new desktop PC for Christmas, and it is so much faster than my 5-year-old PC. I don’t know what I was thinking having not upgraded sooner.
For the new year, I hope to do a few updates to this site. For one, I hope to re-enable comments but only after I figure out a strategy to block spammers. Even with comments turned off I am still getting a bunch of spam every day. If anyone knows the best route to block spammers when using WordPress, feel free to email me. Yesterday I deleted over 2000 spam comments. Most were for gambling and porn. I hope they pass a law to stop the spammers. I have a libertarian steak, but when it comes to spammers - I want to crush them like bugs … now there is the holiday spirit.
NoSpeedBumps.com is 9 months old tomorrow. My 2006 goal for NoSpeedBumps.com is to reach an average of 1000 visits per day on my sitemeter. Lately I have been averaging about 100 per day, although it has dropped off through the past week which is likely common during the Christmas rush.
I have been lucky in 2005 to get hundreds of links from other sites. And I have been lucky to get some links from many of the top 200 blogsites including: Instapundit, Vodkapundit, Roger Simon, Andrew Sullivan, Winds of Change, Little Green Footballs, Polipundit, Chrenkoff, Atrios, Steve Sailer, Parapundit, Right Wing News, Willisms, Riehl World, Wizbang, Outside the Beltway, Ann Althouse, Small Dead Animals, Gateway Pundit, Neolibertarian, Dean’s World, Gene Expression, ProfessorBainbridge, TaxProf, Atlas Shrugs, The Anchoress, The BrothersJudd, Right Wing Nuthouse, and PunditGuy.
In all, Technorati says that I currently have 268 active links to my site coming from 89 unique sites. Not bad for 9 months of blogging. But I would like 1000 links by the end of 2006.
So there is my goal: 1000 visitors per day and 1000 active links by the end of 2006.
Any suggestions for improving this site are welcome.
