John Stossel Interview
John Stossel was on the local AM talk radio (WBAP, 820) program in Dallas tonight. He was talking about his new book Give Me a Break. I read this book recently and it is a great book if you are a believer in the need to expand our freedoms.
Stossel is a libertarian, not a conservative or liberal. But he said in traveling to promote his book, only conservatives will have him on programs to talk with him. He said the liberals just want people who are going to agree with them. This lines up with one thing that I have been saying at NoSpeedBumps. Liberals, on the whole, are not interested in new ideas or change - unless it is some idea to expand the welfare state or regulatory state.
He said that a friend helped to get him an interview on Al Franken’s show. But he said that Franken was “awful” and just yelled at him the whole time.
Stossel talked a lot about how all the rules and regulations that liberals push actually end up hurting the very people that they are supposed to help. In his book, he gives some great examples. I hope a lot of people read this book - Americans need a much bigger libertarian streak.
